Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.
- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00
- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00
Report from Eldey: We left the harbour searching for some cetaceans but faced difficult weather. The waves were bigger than yesterday and a strong westerly wind. But, since we had been lucky to be seeing some whales close to shore we decided to give it a try. We scanned everywhere where it was safe to sail, behind the islands, near the harbour, almost in the heart of Reykjavík but nothing came up, on 2 harbour porpoises made a swift appearance and vanished right away. We gave away complimentary tickets to our passengers to try again at another time.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: in the afternoon, we had the same sea conditions as the morning, but we were hopeful that we could explore more areas. So we sailed out first to Skarfabakki area, because that was the main region where the whales were for over a month and the sea was calmer there. The incredible amount of big flocks of seabirds told there was a lot of food there. But as the whales were not in this area, we decided to go a bit far out, but the swell didn't allow us to go very far. Some other boats risked it, but we decided to prioritize the comfort of our passengers, as there was a lot of movement already. Later, we talked to the other boats by radio and they couldn't find anything either. So we decided to give out complimentary tickets so the passengers could come back again and try their luck in another opportunity.
