CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Things were fairly promising for this one after the last days sightings but unfortunately we did not manage to find any cetaceans on this tour. We tried at our best but still no animal showed up. As a result of that we gave out complimentary tickets valid for two years from today.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from Þruma IV RIB: We had a string of wind that was not too strong coming from the southwest and coupling up with a bit of a swell in the ocean, making for hard spotting conditions. We travelled out to Faxaflói bay and our first sighting this morning were 2-3 white-beaked dolphins. Unfortunately, they were not in a mood to socialise and after having tried to follow them for 5-10 minutes, we gave up and decided to search for something else. A little further out we spotted the blow of a humpback whale, and managed to get a bit closer before it came up the second time and dived deep down. We didn't see it come up for the next 10 minutes, so we decided to check out the two humpbacks our colleagues had found in Kollafjörður, super close to land. The waters there were so calm, the opposite of the ocean out in the bay. It was magical to see two humpback whales so close to land surface in the calm ocean, with the mountains and islands surrounding us. We watched them for about half an hour, before heading back to harbour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The conditions remained the stay for the afternoon as a south westerly wind swept through the bay, causing a one metre swell. We began the tour heading out to an area where whales had been reported from another operator in the morning. After a thorough search in this location with another company we decided to head to our more preferred areas with the same outcome unfortunately. As a result, we offered complimentary tickets to our guest.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 14:00

Report from Þruma IV RIB: We were optimistic about this tour because of the 2 humpback whales that had been found close to land this morning. The wind had picked up and the swell was larger, so we would have a difficult time going far out on the RIB boat. We travelled all around Kollafjörður, the area where the two humpbacks were found earlier, but didn't locate them. We then tried to go a bit out in the bay, but returned pretty quickly to Kollafjörður as the ocean was too difficult for our boat. We then searched Kollafjörður extensively for an hour before we unfortunately had to give up and go back to harbour, with no cetaceans sighted on the tour. Therefore, we gave our lovely and positive passengers a complimentary ticket for a classic tour with us.
