Tour at 20.30

The sun was still shining when we headed out to Akurey to visit the puffins. We saw a lot of puffins around the island tonight so it was a very nice start of the tour. Then we sailed for some time before we found our first minke whale! We sailed little bit closer and could take a good look at it. But suddenly we saw another minke whale, and then another one and suddenly we had many minke whales all around us! It was really great to see them all around the boat. Then out of nowhere, a minke whale just surfaced 3 meters away from the boat!!! It then surfaced many times in front of the boat, and this happened 3 times to us! Really amazing tour in the midnight sun!

Tour at 17:00

The wind had picked up a little on this tour to the point of having a few white caps. We started the tour by heading straight out to were the whales were and it wasn't long before we got our first encounter and the first Minke Whale was definitely the star of the tour surfacing within 20 meters of our boat and in the wave too so that more of the body came out of the water. Must have seen about 4-5 Minke on this tour and another we could see travelling just beneath the waters surface. Really great to be able to see the white band the Minkes have on their pectoral fin. Not so many Puffins around the Island but lets hope they are in their borrows laying those eggs of theirs. Great Tour!

Tour at 14:00

The sun was shining when we headed out this lovely afternoon. After visiting the puffin island we spotted a huge blow in front of us! We were not sure what kind of whale this was but then we saw it, it was a really big minke whale! And just a moment later another one just behind it! We headed to the area we saw them and all in all we saw6 minke whales, and some of them came very close to the boat, only 5-10 meters away from us so we were able to see the whole whale under the surface! We spotted also very playful porpoises with the minke whales! What a great tour!

Tour at 10:00

We headed out to visit the puffins at Akurey. Many many puffins at home this morning so it was a great start of the tour. Then later on we spotted the first minke whale, it surfaced 300 meters away from us so we headed towards the whale. But on the way we saw 3 other minke whales, all little bit far away, but suddenly one minke whale surfaced only 15 meters just in front of the boat! It was really nice to see the whale so close! Among the minke whales we saw very playful harbour porpoises! They were jumping just in front of the boat! Very nice tour!

Tour at 09:00

Our first stop was at the puffin island Akurey and we saw lots of puffins all around it. Out in the bay we spotted at least 5-7 minke whales, some surfaced very close to our boat others further away. On the way back we found a pod of harbour porpoises. The weather was fantastic, calm sea and the sun was peaking out from the clouds. So very nice tour. Birds seen on tour: Puffins, fulmars, kittiwakes, guillemots, shearwaters, arctic terns ,black backed gulls, arctic skuas, gannets, razorbills.
