We headed straight out into Faxaflói Bay and after about 40 minutes of sailing we found our first Minke Whale. However this Minke had company already from another whale watching vessel so we stayed with it only for a short time. Then we headed out a little further and found two Minke Whales that surfaced together. It was amazing and only 20 meters from our boat. After awhile the two Minkes separated and travelled off. We must have seen at least another 1 or 2 Minkes after this but a lot further away. With the beautiful sunset and lit up Reykjavik it made this a tour to remember.

We headed out to Lundey to see the puffins. No puffins at home this afternoon. Soon out on Faxaflói we saw lots of gannets, lots of them!!!! And yes....lots of minke whales!!!!!!!!! This was just breath taking! So many minke whales and thousands of diving gannets! WOW! What an amazing tour! Birds seen on tour: Gannets

Report from Elding: The Puffins of Lundey were mostly not at home when we stopped by on their island to pay them a visit, but a few of them were paddling around on the water surface. Further out in the bay, we immediately saw a big flock of feeding Gannets, diving into the surface from steep heights every other second. An excellent sign for whales and we were not disappointed: Must have seen some 13 Minke whales, one of them staying with us for a long time, surfacing close to the boat. Warm beams of sunshine and a fantastic view of the whole bay made this trip unforgettable!

Report from Hafúlan: Our first stop was at Lundey, the puffin island. There we saw lots of puffins all around the island. Out in the bay we found an area with lots of feeding gannets, a pod of harbour porpoises and a few minke whales. The whales were quite nice to us, coming close to the boat and surfacing many times. Very nice tour.

Report from Elding II: Perfect Tour! Headed out on calm, diverse and rich seas. We started at Lundey to see the Puffins, not many there but we saw quite a few offshore. It took us a little while to get to were the whales were but once we were there O.M.G!! Hundreds of diving gannets and many Minke Whales. Some surfacing meters from the boat. Absolutely incredible!!

Report from Hafúlan: We headed out in warm and sunny weather. First we went to Lundey and visited the puffin island. After that we went straight out to the whale watching area. After a while we spotted some dolphins. We could follow the White Beaked Dolphins for quite some time and they surfaced amazingly close to the boat. The highlight was some jumping dolphins right in front of the boat and to see them diving under the surface. Then we headed further out to find also a Minke Whale. After a short while we found one surfacing really often and close to the boat. Sensational tour! Report from Elding: With three out of four cetacean species sighted, this was an exceptional tour!! Out in the Faxaflói bay, we very soon saw two pods of White-beaked dolphins. We followed each of them for a bit (one even had a baby calf!) and observed them jumping and surfing our wake. Further out, we met our first Minke whale surfacing just a few metres in front of us. There was a huge flock of feeding Gannets, splashing into the water all around and 4 Minke whales. On the way back, two pods of Harbour Porpoises to top off the tour. Beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures made this an adventurous and pleasant trip!
