Tour at 17:00

Again, we came to an area where there were still lots of feeding Gannets, and in the same area there were a couple of Minke whales and a group of harbour porpoises! We had a good look at one of the Minke whales which surfaced a few times very close to the boat. After heading out a bit further we found another group of feeding Gannets and around there another couple of Minke whales. We spotted a few young puffins out on the sea which tells us that the puffins are going to leave the islands in the next few days.

Report from Elding: We found an area where there were a lot of feeding Gannets. Here we also found a couple of Minke whales, throughout the trip we spotted about 4-5 individuals. We also spotted a group of very playful white-beaked dolphins. The weather was fantastic for the duration of the trip, and our passengers were happy :)

Report from Hafsúlan: Just like Elding we stayed in an area with loads of feeding gannets. They are such fantastic birds to watch when they are feeding. They dive into the sea with their wings folded back, making a splash as they land. This diving technique enables them to catch fish much deeper than most airborne birds. The gannets can dive from a height of 30 meters, reaching a speed of 100 km/h as they hit the ocean surface (!) and it is a fascinating thing to watch. It wasn't all about the gannets though ;) we also spotted some minke whales, a couple of them surfacing pretty close to the boat. The weather was beautiful and it was a nice afternoon out on the bay :)

Tour at 9:00

A wonderful morning for a whale watching tour. Not so far out we found our first minke whale and it surfaced several times around the boat. Soon we spotted more and turned of the engines. Now we were surrounded by several minke whales, which fed calmly close to the boat. We also spotted dolphins but somehow we didn't get very close to them. Satisfied, we went to watch the puffins on the puffin island and then back to the harbour.
