Tour 17:00

The weather was still very lovely. Even less wind than the few we had all day. We sailed out first to Akurey where we had few Puffins but fortunately we had a few more out in the bay where we had also a few Minke whales. Single moving animals and some were really quite big, probably adults and some juveniles, too. One individual in particular not only was surfacing very close to the boat a couple of times but it was also rolling unexpectedly on the side showing the fluke just in front of us!

Tour 13:00

Report from Hafsúla: The weather improved drastically, almost no wind and light conditions were perfect to spot whales also very far away. We had a very large number of Minke whales in the bay. At least 25 close and then many other further out. Really impressive to see them all surfacing everywhere!

Report from Elding: The sea was still perfectly calm this afternoon and we set off to look for the whales. Quite suddenly one Minke whale popped up really not too far from the coast and we stayed with it for a while, but then spotted another. We spotted 10-12 Minke whales throughout the trip, even a mother and calf which was really nice to see!  We stopped by the puffin island on the way back to the harbour but there really were hardly any puffins around, we are at the end of the season!

Tour 9:00

Report from Hafsúlan: A very good weather and flat sea. We sailed out first to Akurey, the Puffin Island. Puffins started being a bit less but still some. Then we sailed out in Faxaflói bay where we had at least 4 different Minke whales spotted and a few of these individuals were surfacing quite close to our boat.

Report from Elding: A really nice day today with a lovely calm sea. We started by going to Akurey island to look at the puffins, there were still some around this morning. We spotted a few Minke whales throughout the trip but they were diving a long time and it was sometimes quite difficult to follow them. Towards the end of the trip we had a few nice sightings and on the way back to the harbour we spotted a group of Harbour porpoises!
