Tour at 20:30

We began this trip by first stopping by one of the puffin islands, Akurey.  Then we headed straight out to where they (the previous tours) had been seeing them today, but after a careful search of the area nothing was to be found.  So with good weather and using the speed of Elding II, the Captain made the decision to head far out into the bay in search of a good trip.  Out there in the distance some big splashes were spotted, then upon closer inspection we discovered a couple different pods of white beaked dolphins, some more playful than others.  It is always fun to see them play.  Then heading back in we were on the north side of the bay where a Minke Whale was spotted in the distance, then a couple more times as we approached closer, unfortunately we were already late so we could not spend much time with this wonderful animal.

Tour at 17:00

We started the tour with a stop in Akurey to see the Puffins and then we headed further out in search for the whales. We headed straight out towards the area where they spotted the Minke Whales during the 14:00 when we got to the area we spotted one back of a Minke Whale quite far away that was deep diving. We waited there for quite a while but it didn't come up again and we didn't find any other whales in that area so we headed on. The conditions were great but there were not many birds and we didn't spot any other whales during the tour. We issued complimentary tickets for the passengers to come again for free.

Tour at 14:00

The sun was still shining and we headed out with high hopes. We started our tour in Akurey where there were actually very few puffins this afternoon. Then we sailed to Faxaflói and boy, was our patience tried! We sailed and sailed and sailed and after sailing for 2,5 hours without finding anything we had almost given up hope. But then suddenly we spotted a Minke Whale in the distance. After approaching it we suddenly had two Minke Whales surfacing at the same time! And then the third one came in the distance. Amazing! The two whales that came closest were a mother and a calf and they were so fun to watch, so curious about us and rolling around under the surface just beside the boat, not 5 meters away! A GREAT ending to a rather trying tour.

Tour at 13:00

Before we went out to to Faxaflói to search for the Whales,we stopped at the Puffin Island Lundey. We saw many Kittiwakes around the island and many of them were sitting in a cliff there on the island, there were also some Lesser Black-backed Gulls flying around the island, Black Guillamots and some Puffins.. After this stop we then headed out to Faxaflói bay. After searching for a long long time we finally found a really nice Minke Whale. This Minke Whale was so amazing surfacing many times all around the boat and very close to it as well and we could easily see the side flippers and fluke through the surface when it came up. So beautiful. Amazing sighting after a long search.

Tour at 10:00

We started the tour by sailing straight out to Faxaflói. Usually it takes around 30 or 40 minutes to reach the whale watching area but suddenly, 10 minutes after we left the harbour we spotted Harbour Porpoises! There were quite many of them and they surface close to us a few times. A really nice sighting to begin the tour. Then after sailing for about 50 minutes we found the first Minke Whale. We ended up seeing 4-5 different individuals as each one was being a little difficult to keep track on. In the end we had some nice sightings even though we ended up sailing for about 30 minutes after the last minke without seeing anything. On the way back we then stopped at the Puffin Island Akurey where we saw some puffins as well as many other species.

Tour at 09:00

We had beautiful weather this morning and headed straight out into the bay. First we spotted some Harbour Porpoises. They surfaced several times and before we knew it a Minke Whale surfaced close by. We stayed with it for a while and it surfaced quite often and was really nice to watch. Then we headed on and soon we found another Minke Whale. This one was really small probably only 1 or 2 years old and we're guessing it was only about 3 meters long. It came quickly up to the surface. While we were watching the Minke Whale,we spotted another one in the same area. But unfortunatly our time was up so we headed back. Before we went to the harbour we stopped at the Puffin Island Akurey to see the Puffins, some were flying above the Island and others were sitting on the water surface around it. We also spotted Gannets, Kittiwakes, Fulmars, Shearwaters and other birds during this first tour of the day.
