CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: Today the weather was called "window weather" in Iceland. It looked beautiful and sunny when we were inside, but once you step outside we felt the full power of Icelandic wind - so it is nice weather to look at through the window. We still braved the wind and headed out to the islands. Our persistance paid off as, once again, we found the humpback whale that has been staying in the same area feeding for a while now. This individual immediately gave us a big surprise by surfacing directly in front of our boat! Only around 50 metres away! We stayed with this whale for most of the tour and watched it feeding underneath lots of birds. When we were waiting for it to surface again, our captain saw that the fish finder was showing a huge amount of fish underneath us - a real feast for this humpback! It was changing directions a lot but a few times it took us by surprise and appeared right next to us! After a while, we moved on and searched around the other islands for more wildlife but unfortunately couldn't find anything else. We briefly revisited our original humpback before heading back to the harbour, all satisfied with our afternoon out on the water.
