Olivia Garcia

Olivia is one of our naturalists that joined us in the summer of 2024. After a life changing sailing experience in Asia 7 years ago, she fell in love with marine wildlife and started studying environmental science in France while managing an ocean protection NGO (Surfrider Foundation) in her hometown with a friend. She left to Central America for a year and volunteered for marine conservation projects in Mexico and Costa Rica while helping founding the Youth4Ocean organisation and traveled to many conferences to speak about youth inclusion in the ocean policy scene. She moved to Portugal to do her masters in marine biology and specialised in the study of climate change impacts on sea turtles, a work that she wishes to continue as a researcher. Early this year she decided to follow some close friends to Iceland and got the naturalist position at Elding.

Falling a bit more in love with each whale 🙂

Olivia's nationality is French and she speaks French, English, Spanish and Portuguese.
