This morning we enjoyed sightings of four humpback whales together, including our well-known Davy Jones II, along with an elusive minke whale. Conditions worsened in the afternoon and despite a long search, no whales were spotted, so we issued complimentary tickets to our passengers. The last tour of the day ended up getting cancelled due to weather.

Today brought sunshine, calm seas and excellent visibility, making for beautiful conditions on the bay. We spotted white-beaked dolphins, several minke whales and, in the afternoon and evening, multiple humpback whales. With close views, fluke dives and even some playful behaviour, it was a wonderful day of whale watching from start to finish.

The conditions were close to perfect, with very little waves and wind, but some clouds. Soon, a streak of green curtains appeared right above the mountains: the northern lights were here - moving slowly so we had a good chance to see them!

We went out under a clear sky with a fantastic view of the stars. With increasing darkness, it got much easier to see the band of northern lights above us. Green lights reached across the horizon and we were able to get some nice pictures!

The winds were strong this morning so we headed out into the bay past Hvalfjörður where we spotted 2 minke whales, a pod of 6-8 white-beaked dolphins and 4 fast harbour porpoises. Since none of them were in a sociable mood, we decided to offer our passengers complimentary tickets to join us again another day! The rest of the day was cancelled due to weather.

The lack of clouds heightened our spirits and the sky was twinkling with shooting stars from the start. Finally, a long band of green northern lights started forming and dancing all the way from the city towards mt. Esja. What a marvellous sight!

Tonight we sailed out under clear skies, with stars shining bright. Faint northern lights soon started forming above us and through the night, we could see them grow in strength. As we headed back home they were appearing in all shapes and colours!

The morning tour had encounters with minke whales and a small pod of harbour porpoises, but sadly the afternoon tour did not see any larger cetaceans despite our best efforts. As both tours did not meet our expectations, complimentary tickets were issued to all so our guests can return for another chance to see the incredible wildlife of Faxaflói bay.
