Report from Eldey: It was a bitter cold evening, everyone was trying to keep warm in the warm saloons, complimentary winter overalls and hot drinks that can be purchased at the bar, the northern lights punch (hot chocolate with rum) being the most popular. Hazy, starry skies were beautiful to sail under but  the northern lights 1 hour 30 mins before the northern lights appeared. A faint arch to the north, we started first capturing green hues with our cameras and then they got a little bit brighter. However, this only lasted for a couple of minutes and then faded away. This is completely normal as the northern lights are a result of chemical reactions in the atmosphere and thus constantly changing. We were waiting for them to get brighter again and they did but only for a minute again and still not very bright to the naked eye. We felt like this was not enough and we definitely want to show are passengers more. Therefore we gave everyone a complimetary ticket allowing to come on another northern lights cruise for free within the next two years. Hopefully next time they will get to see aurora borealis in its true potential.
