Report from Eldey: With an appealing forecast, the night was full of expectations! This is why it was quite surprising to leave the harbour and to be welcomed by rain and thick low clouds. For a while, we were shrouded in darkness, and there was only the city lights in the distance to look at. But we know how the icelandic weather works, we know that patience can do magic, and we definitely know that the show is worth the wait! So we kept looking at the sky, until we decided it was enough and started to sail back to the harbour. It is precisely at this time that a hole opened up in the sky, and we could see some stars! So we stopped the boat, and were staring at the cloud cover that was shifting by the minute. This allowed to finally see glimmers of northern lights, that were moving fast behind the clouds. It was possible to get some greens on the pictures but not quite yet to have a clear look at it. So we waited some more, but alas, by the time the sky cleared enough, the northern light activity had quieted down. We decided to hand over complimentary tickets to our passengers, everybody had been so patient and willing, so we hope to be able to show them some more vivid northern lights and hopefully in a cloud free sky. So close, hopefully next time is the right one!
