Report from Eldey: It is said that three times is a charm, well we seem to be very lucky at the moment because the past two nights already had a good display of northern lights, but tonight turned out to be even a tiny bit better than the previous evenings. Even though the activity level was predicted to be a moderate 3, so not as active as the past two days, we had this amazing five minutes, where you just have to stare into the sky and be amazed by the wonders of mother nature. But back to the beginning, we were sailing out in good conditions on a not too cold evening with a little wind and almost clear sky. A few clouds were predicted to make it a bit more difficult and challenging to find the lights and it took us about 40 minutes till we saw the first gentle signs on the horizon. In time these signs grew stronger and stronger till the green color was clearly visible and we thought 'nice that is a god solid 3'. And then suddenly the sky was full of green dancing lights all above us with red mixing in here and there. It was really great and unexpected and after five minutes the lights slowed down again and clouds made their way in our view and would prevent a lot of light display for the rest of the evening. Luckily most of our passengers were outside when the aurora was so strong and had enjoyed unforgettable moments. Therefore we all returned happy to Reykjavik and might even dream of northern lights tonight.
