Report from Eldey: Even though our night started out with rain, we were hopeful to see some northern lights through the openings in the clouds. We first stopped to admire another fascinating source of light: the imagine peace tower on the island Viðey. After a short stop, we continued our search for the aurora while drinking hot chocolates and listening to nice music. The rain had stopped, and we were able to spot faint northern lights in the sky. The lights were challenging to clearly see with our eyes, but our cameras showed some light green colour. We kept seeing the northern lights faintly in the sky, but all of a sudden they became more active and we saw a clear green arch above us. The lights became strong, the green colour intensified, the arch grew wider, and we all enjoyed the miracle of the auroras in good company. Tonight goes to show again that we never know when to expect the northern lights - even in a rainy night, we can see spectacular auroras.
