NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 21:00

Report from Eldey and Hafsúlan

It was a tough decision to make regarding whether to go or not tonight due to the cloudy skies, rain and sleet. Most companies had cancelled their northern lights tour but we were optimistic from the forecast that the clouds were meant to clear and open up to show the aurora spectacle. For the first two hours we were getting a lot of this precipitation and the clouds were not moving. By about 11pm the clouds were starting to thin and eventually move. Stars and Planets appeared and we were starting to see green on your cameras, difficult with the naked eye but at about 11:15 the lights were getting brighter mainly in a small clear part surrounded by thick clouds. Then an arch . The wind started to pick up a bit and clouds parted even further but unfortunately moved over where the aurora were. We headed back to port and even though we saw northern lights it was not to the standards we would like so we offered our passengers complimentary tickets to come again anytime in the next two years.
