Safety first and then some fun

Safety is naturally a top priority for us, and we take every possible precaution to guarantee our guests a safe and enjoyable tour. Qualifying to work on board our boats all crew members go through STCW training from the Maritime Safety and Survival Training Centre and regularly attend courses in maritime safety and lifesaving.

At work most of what we do is accident prevention but in order to respond correctly in the situation ever comes up we have safety practices regularly on board. This gives us better understanding of the boats we work on and how it's best to work together. Most of the practices are verbal but every now and then we have physical ones. Yesterday was one of those and although the matter is serious we always try to have fun as well.

This time we did a man overboard practice and Céline, one of our researchers, jumped in (wearing a floating suite though). Freydís, one of our guides, came to her rescue with the help from Einar, on of our engineers. To make a long story short, the practice was successful and both girls were towed back on board.

Although the man overboard situation has never come up in our boats this practice seems to be an all time favourite amongst the crew members. It's full of action and it's so easy to make fun out of it!
