Report from Elding: Despite some clouds we were welcomed by a semi-orange sky in our evening tour. It was windy but the beautiful views of Esjan and Akrafjall kept our eyes and our heart occupied. What broke the spell was a minke whale that barged in right in front of us! It was sure busy swimming fast and taking regular dives. But we hanged on and managed to see it several times. We then circled around in the South trying to find more until it was time to go home.

Report from Eldey: We started our tour this evening accompanied by sunshine and the wind in our back, when heading out. We sailed for quite some time until we saw some splashes in the distance. It was a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins jumping over and over again! It was an amazing sight and everybody got to see this behaviour and the passengers were also able to take a close look, when the dolphins swam by very close to the boat. After this incredible encounter we headed back to the harbour, this time bracing ourselves against the wind.

Report from Elding: The wind had picked up from this morning when we headed out into the bay. We got some sun to enjoy so we were happy. Our first encounter was a big minke whale that surfaced right by the boat. We saw it a couple of times and heard it breathe it was so close. There was even another minke whale close by that we saw also a couple of times. Next up we saw a big flock of birds so we checked it out. Unfortunately we did not see anything in the birds and then we had to sail back to harbour.

Report from Eldey: The afternoon trip was very relaxed and peaceful, we enjoyed the sailing experience as well as the weather. While we were exploring the bay we had many encounters with 8-10 minke whales. Some of them were passing by, traveling or feeding actively. We got to see some juveniles and a little calf among a small group. Birds were very active too so we took nice memories of puffins and other fantastic seabirds during the tour.

Report from Elding: After passing by two minke whales, ones that weren't‘t easy to observe, the Elding went on sailing south-east following a feeling of our experienced captain. The wind was about to pick up but still the weather was calm and the sea as well. Heading on to a big flock of birds suddenly a minke whale popped up just in front of the boat. We stopped, looked all around the boat to see the whale shortly after again – on the exact same spot. Again, and a few times more: It was resting and wouldn't move very far or quickly for another 20 minutes. Also a small pod of harbour porpoises crossed our way home.

Report from Eldey: This morning the sky was very cloudy, when we started our tour, but sea conditions were rather calm. We were surprised by a minke whale, showing up very early during the tour, but it only surfaced 3 times and then it was gone. After this encounter it got very quiet in the bay, but eventually we came across some flocks of feeding seabirds. The seabirds were quite active and in this area we also found 5 minke whales, feeding in between the birds. They surfaced at various distances from our boat, so everybody was able to to see them. Just shortly afterwards we also found a pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins, who even did some jumping for us! On the way back we were lucky enough to spot a pod of 5 harbour porpoises travelling just past our boat at a rather high speed. However, all the passengers still outside saw them and it was a great way to finish the tour.

Birds seen on todays tours include: Atlantic puffin, common guillemot, great skua, arctic skua, black-legged kittiwake, lesser black-backed gull, northern gannet, northern fulmar, Manx shearwater, arctic tern.
