 TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Another slightly windy afternoon, but the weather was  calming down more and more. After about half of our trip, we stopped as our captain spotted the dark back of a minke whale. We saw it's blow again after, but it did not show a third time. To our pleasant surprise however, we encountered a second minke whale shortly after. First we saw it from about 300 meters distance but then it came up maybe 10 meters from the bow, first on our right hand side and then on our left side, almost as if it was curious. It looked to be a youngster, measuring maybe 6 meters in length. After such close up surfaces we waited eagerly for it to return, but also this one was not so much in a showing off mood and disappeared. So evethough we saw whales today, the encounters did not fulfill our standards and thus we gave out complimentary tickets to our guests for them to return within a 2 year period for a hopefully even better trip.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 9:00

Report from Eldey: We began the first sail of the day in beautiful morning sun and the first snow on the tips of the mountains that was a great compromise for the chilly North East wind. From the beginning on we could observe many birds gliding over white-capped waves. This usually indicates that there is  fish in the waters which would very likely attract whales and dolphins as well.  With that in mind, we were eagerly looking out for any signs of animals in the water: dark backs with triangular dorsal fins, splashes, blows... But despite our best efforts there were no cetaceans to be found. We provided all passengers with a complimentary ticket allowing them to come on an other tour for free in the next two years.
