Report from Hafsúlan: What a beautiful day out on Faxaflói today! We sailed out of the old harbour in calm weather and headed straight out to start our search. After a little while we saw a Minke Whale coming up to the surface but this turned out to be a very tricky Minke, we only saw it surface few times before it disappeared so soon we were on our way. When we were turning and leaving another Minke Whale came up to the surface in a bit of a distance but like the first one it only came up few times and then disappeared. So on we went again, and this time we had to search for a long time before something popped up. But it was definitely worth the wait because we got to se a big beautiful Minke Whale coming so close to us and even swimming under the boat and checking us out! This was such a nice encounter and we got to see this individual coming up to the surface very often. We tried to leave since our time was up but this Minke just cept surfacing so close so often! In the end we had to leave and on our sailing back we spotted a pod of Harbour Porpoises (7-10 individuals in total) all around the boat! Like that was not enough we spotted two other Minkes on our sailing as well. This was such a lovely encounter with so many animals on this tour. On our sailing back we enjoyed the mirror calm sea and the beautiful afternoon light.
