Tour at 17:00

We started this tour in Lundey Puffin Island where there were a few puffins around. Then we sailed out to Faxaflói and had to search for quite a long time before we found a Minke Whale. There were two of them in the same area but they were a little bit difficult to follow, but in the end they actually came quite close to the boat. Then we sailed a little further and found another Minke Whale and this one was a little more approachable and came really close to the boat! On the way back we then spotted a huge splash not far away and turned to look at it. It was a surface feeding Minke Whale, coming up with a big splash right underneath a flock of birds! A really nice ending to this good tour.

The rain had stopped and the wind had gone down when we left for this trip. We started out by looking at the Puffins in Lundey. Again there were quite many of them on the island and we stayed there for a while. We then headed out and when we got to the area where we had been earlier this morning the Gannets had left but we found 3 Minke Whales there. Two of them surfaced many times all around the boat so we were able to take a good look at them. We then headed on and soon we found a pod of Harbour Porpoises. Close to them we saw massive splashes so we headed that way. When we got to the area the surface was vibrating there was so much sand eel and there were at least 3 or 4 different Minke Whales there lunge feeding, showing their belly up again and again, and it was all pink they were so full. It was amazing. Great trip out in Faxaflói bay.

It was raining a lot this morning and there was a slight wind. We started out by heading to the Puffin colony Lundey. There were many Puffins around the Island this morning as well as Kittiwakes and Lesser Black-backed Gulls. We then headed out to Faxaflói were we found a flock of feeding Gannets and right underneath the flock we spotted the first Minke Whales rolling in the surface once. And then it surfaced several times and soon we spotted some more, there were at least 3-5 of them there in the area and 2 of them came really close to the boat again and again. After looking at them for a while we headed on. Soon we stumbled up on a nice pod of White-beaked Dolphins. This was a beautiful pod and they had one tiny calf with them.
