Report from Eldey and Hafsúlan: The perfect day to be on the ocean, snow-capped mountains, low warm sun, and fresh crisp air, Perfect! 200 passengers joined us this afternoon, so we use two of our large vessel to provide more comfort. As we sailed west into Faxaflói Bay we saw a nice variety of birds; fulmars, eider ducks (looking all handsome in their breeding plumage), cormorants and a variety of seagulls. After about an hour was got word for one of our vessels about a pod of white-beaked dolphins, they were very elusive though and didn´t stick around for us to see them. We carried on and after another 20 minutes more white-beaked dolphins - they were happy to interact and everyone saw them very well as they surfaced just meters for our vessel. A few in the pod left and two mothers with their calves were left before they too aventually left too. We carried on to see what else was about but the ocean a few flock of fulmars, and two harbour seals. In the end it was just a wonderful snowy winters day.

Report from Eldey: What a calm and picturesque morning. Winds were very calm and the sun rising was painting the skies and clouds above us a purple and red colour as we sailed out. With such flat seas it was very good spotting conditions and we soon encountered our first of FIVE pods of white-beaked dolphins. This first pod was 2 adults and a calf, but not too interested in us, whereas the second and third pod were of 5-6 dolphins and they came very close, did some bow-riding, diving underneath the boat, surfing the waves, even some jumps!! The weather was typical Icelandic :) Sunshine followed by snow, hail, rain and more sunshine. Good on all our passengers for keeping their smiles on their faces. But I can't blame them after such a dolphin-tastic tour!
