Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
  • PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00, 12:00, 14:00

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 9:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out of the bay in this cold but beautiful morning, with a wonderful sky and a almost perfect sea. Of the bat, we encountered several harbour porpoises for some of us to enjoy close to our boat. As we saw some splashes in the distance, we headed to our second sighting: a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins, including 2 calves, were enjoying their traveling when they decided to come and bow ride with us. We then came upon another group of 3 dolphins later in our trip, some of them jumping before our arrival. As we looked for a new sighting, we found 4 minke whales up until the end of our tour, one of them skimming past our boat in the last moments before our way back home.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: As the weather picked up in wind and in clouds, we sailed again out in the bay, heading towards a known spot from this morning. Quite quickly, we found a lot of activity in this area, with several species of birds surrounding us through our tour. This is when we encountered 4 minke whales consecutively. Sadly, it was also in this area where a dead minke whale was found, as we passed by it helplessly However, the many minkes around us were coming very close, and we kept our attention to them, as they cqme so close to us several times and very predictably. Further in our tour, as we headed back towards Reykjavik, we encountered our last minke whale, to finish the day in good fashion.
