Report from Eldey: Some clouds were covering the sky today but the lights was quite beautiful. The sea was flat and cold wind was coming from the east, little patches of ice were visible in the water. Freezing! We could warm up with hot drinks and overalls to isolate us from the cold wind of this winter. We went to the islands near Reykjavik were a humpback was seen recently and we found it again. The humpback whale was first coming a few times to the surface before going for a deep dive, most often showing its tail. Quite quickly the humpback, probably feeding changed behaviour and had much shorter sequences only coming once to the surface before diving. After a last visible blow we could not find it anymore so we went for a search in close areas. When we came back we saw the blow half an hour later in the same area than earlier. This time the humpback was easier to observe and going for a few more breaths at the surface, showing clearly its tail while going for a dive and not staying very long under anymore. But still moving a lot, probably seeking nice groups of fish to gobble. We observed it a few more times and went back to the harbour.
