Status 09:00 Tour and 13:00 Tour: RUNNING

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey and Elding: the weather had changed completely since the morning tour. The wind had calmed down and the swell was almost gone. We sailed towards the area where we had the dolphin sighting this morning. On the way out we spotted a powerful blow towards Akranes. This turned out to be a humpback whale! We got great look at the animal as it frequently showed us the fluke when it went for dives. After a while with the humpback we sailed further out. It took us a while until we found a pod of 7-8 white beaked dolphins. The pod was mainly built out of mothers and calves. The dolphins were the stars of the tour, we got great looks at them as they leaped and breached out of the water. They also approached the boats so we got great looks of them as they swam around us. On the way back Eldey spotted a pod of 8-9 harbour porpoises that were active feeding underneath a large flock of birds. It really felt like summer out on the bay!

Report from Eldey: The weather improved to yesterday as we started to sail out on Faxabay. The sky started to open up and we had some fantastic light over the landscape. With high expectations on regards to our last tours we headed to our best spotting area. We did not had to scan the area for long until the first fins cut the water surface. 3-4 pods of white-beaked dolphins where feeding in the area, even some calfs where getting really close to the boat, seeming to be interested in us. Lots of seabirds where scattered over the same area trying to get their share of the fish. We got really great looks of the dolphins and could take plenty of pictures. On the way back we sailed against the wind and the sun was shining in our face, what a beautiful morning!
