We are sailing out from Reykjavik Harbour today. The forecast predicts a little wind from the west and some swells.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey and Hafsúlan: We had perfect weather conditions today with a sunny sky and weak winds when we left the harbour. Many people wanted to go whale watching so we took out two boats again. The sea condition was a bit rough and both boats got some passengers with green faces. The ones that felt good could enjoy some true rollercoaster bumps, Icelandic style. We searched the bay, Eldey more towards the south and Hafsúlan towards the north. The birdlife was very uniformed with a lot of fulmars spread out in the bay, maybe pushed in by the strong western winds earlier this week? Hafsúlan was the boat that first encountered any sign of cetaceans (whales, dolphins or porpoises), when a small pod of 2-3 white-beaked dolphins appeared in front of the boat. It was difficult to follow the dolphins in the high swells and we soon lost them. But passengers on the top and middle deck got a few looks at them, although taking pictures were difficult. Unfortunately this was the only sighting for this tour so both boats gave out complimentary tickets for another whale watching tour with us here at Elding.
