Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: When we sailed out this afternoon, the wind had calmed down and clouds with a bit of rain alternated with sunshine so we were able to see several beautiful rainbows. We went out towards where we had seen the dolphins on the last tour, but were happy to be welcomed by a Minke Whale. Our passengers spotted it first prooving excellent spotting skills. We only saw the minke a couple of times, but did not give up since we had plenty of fish below the boat. Indeed, the waiting was totally worth it! We ended up with about 3 Minke Whales in the area and even though hard to follow, we got a very nice and close look in the end. Still happy about the nice meeting with the minke whales, we were surprised by a couple of White-beaked Dolphins on the way back to Reykjavik. They were travelling fast, but we were very happy to see them a few times in the wonderful evening sun! The mood on board was very good making it a wonderful experience for crew and certainly most of our passengers.

Tour at 9:00 Report from Hafsúlan: the weather was calm as we headed out this morning, the sun was out but it was still a cold september day. After searching for about an hour we found 2-3 pods of at least 10-15 White-beaked Dolphins. we could watch them as they swam around us quickly, obviously hunting and we even saw 2 of them breaching ( jumping out of the water). After we spent about 30 minutes with the dolphins we decided to sail further and try our luck in finding something else. when it was almost time to go back to the harbour we got a call from another whale watching boat that spotted a blow. We headed towards them and we could see the blow from a distance. It was a Minke Whale that surfaced 2-3 times but then was gone. We headed home in a good mood after seeing some example of the wild life here in faxaflói bay!- Freydís Ósk
