Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: The wind picked down considerably during our last tour and we could enjoy a nice sailing experience with plenty of sun in the horizon. Our main goal was to find a big flock of northern gannets seen in previous tour because they led us to an active area with minke whales. Unfortunately, we couldn't find more than few individuals scattered through Faxafloi so cetacean presence was challenging. After a long search, we couldn't place them so we offered complimentary tickets hoping that next time we'll find them. Nonetheless, the sunset was mesmerizing and we got the gift from nature to see the moon rising behind Reykjavik.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: We were still facing the northerly winds during our afternoon tour, but the sunshine was warming us up for part of the tour as well. Even though the sea was rough, our experienced captain kept the boat steady, while we were searching for the cetaceans. We came into an area were a lot of northern gannets were feeding all around us, diving into the water like arrows. Watching this spectacle was already amazing, but all of a sudden a minke whale came up, just next to our boat. Unfortunately this was the only surfacing of this individual. But we could not be discouraged and were rewarded with another sighting of 2 minke whales, surfacing repeatedly in short distance to our boat. After this short but enjoyable encounter we returned to the harbour finishing this real icelandic adventure.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: The morning tour was characterized by strong north winds which made us feel like if winter was knocking in our doors. However, we had incredible views from the bay and an unusual flock of hundreds (if not thousand) eider ducks. They seemed to be gathering together while youngster were molting their feathers, getting ready for winter time. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any cetaceans but we enjoyed a real viking sailing experience in the fierce north seas.

Birds seen during our tours: eider duck, northern fulmar, northern gannet, black-legged kittiwake, lesser black-backed gull, european cormorant.
