Report from Elding: We knew it was going to be choppy out on the water this afternoon so we warned all our passengers that it was rough (but safe) sailing conditions and they all still decided to join us anyway obviously love a little challenge. Kids were also loving the motion but seasickness did strike a couple of passengers. We tried to keep the boat stable as much as possible and sailed along the south peninsula of Reykjanes. The minke whales were the stars on this tour, 5-7 individuals at least and a few glimpses of 3 harbour porpoises but in the swells and the speedy surfaces of these feeding whales and porpoises you had to be quick to spot them and it was impossible to photograph them. Many were successful and enjoyed the adventure, but as we know that it was definitely not an easy tour we offered complimentary tickets to join us again with hopefully more success on the next round.

Report from Elding: Its aways amazing to see the difference in the weather and the sea when leaving the calm, warm, sheltered harbour where every one has stripped down to the bottom layers of clothes to the windy, cold, choppy conditions of the North Atlantic where hats, gloves and every layer of clothing is on and maybe even borrowing the free overalls we have on board. The winds today went up to about 13m/s and waves short and up to 1m high. This was very fun for many of our passengers and everyone was out to see the plentiful wildlife. After about 1 hours cruising we found a few minke whales feeding under flocks of seabirds and a small pod of about 3 harbour porpoises. During the whole tour we must have seen at least 8 minke whales with the easiest ones to see in the flocks of birds. On the way back to port we saw another blow and this one looked a little different, humpback whale. Most people were n the warm saloon at this point and rushed outside, we waited and waited but this whale was doing a super long dive, unfortunately we couldn’t wait as were already quite late back to port so many weren’t able to see it except for the few determined passengers that will still outside. Once again the minke whales stole the show.
