Report from Eldey: The trip from Reykjavik along the bay was quite enjoyable even though we were riding along persistent southeastern winds. We spotted a lot of marine birds along the trip, including puffins, artic terns, northern gannets and kittiwake flying quite close to the boat. However, as wild animals are unpredictable, there were no whales or dolphin sightings during this trip. For this reason we were happy to provide complementary tickets to all our clients so that they could come on another tour with us.

Report from Eldey: Weather conditions did not change much from the morning, so again we went out in high spirits. We sailed out with good visibility over the surrounding landscape and many different seabirds on our way out in the bay. Suddenly a pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins appeared really close to us. We managed to follow them for some time, some time they even jumped and leaped out of the water, until they decided to disappear. We went on further out in the bay getting a closer look at some hunting northern gannets as they are often a great indicator for some cetaceans feeding in the same area. Unfortunately this time we did not see any other species and had to head back to the harbour, were on the way we encountered another smaller pod (maybe 2-3) of dolphins. It was another lovely day out in the bay!

Report from Eldey: We left Reykjavik facing fierce Southeastern winds, so we were navigating against the swell, but though one could feel it a little bit, the journey was quite comfortable and enjoyable. The weather was slightly changeable, as it was mostly cloudy and it even rained for a few minutes. At the middle of the trip we were gifted with great sunshine. Short after leaving Reykjavik, we spotted a minke whale. This was quite surprising as minke whales are most frequently sighted further away from the shore. It was very conspicuous though, showing an elusive surface behaviour, so we were only able to follow it for a few moments. The most frequently sighted birds were puffins, Manx shearwaters, kittiwakes, fulmars and arctic terns. So, in the end, even though we spotted the minke whale a few times, we were aware that not all of our passengers were able to see it properly, therefore we were happy to give all of them a second chance with us while offering them complementary tickets for another tour.

Birds seen on todays tours include: Atlantic puffin, arctic tern, northern fulmar, common guillemot, black guillemot, great black-backed gull, lesser black backed gull, black legged kittiwake, manx shearwater, cormorant, common loone, glaucus gull.
We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. The sea today is a bit rough and we do have complimentary sea sickness tablets at the ticket office. We are also expecting some rain today, so do not be shy to make use of our complimentary overalls to keep you warm and dry today.
