Tour at 09:00

Report from Elding: The tour began this morning with high winds and some swell but this didn't put our passengers off - who used the overalls provided and joined me out on the top deck...the best place to be!! The boat kept to the South of Faxaflói bay gaining some shelter from the high winds. We kept close to land and some curious Northern Gannets hovered right next to the boat, with their bright blue eyes inspecting the passengers. During the second half of the tour we turned the boat around so that we were travelling with the waves and the strong winds were kept at bay - making the journey a lot more pleasurable. The enthusiasm of our passengers onboard  was brilliant - most of them stayed outside to help me in spotting whales throughout the tour despite the heavy downpours. Unfortunately spotting whales and dolphins proved to be difficult against the white caps today, so we offered all our passengers complimentary tickets. These are valid for any other whale watching tour with Elding within the next two years. I hope that despite todays unsuccess we will see you back on a tour with us soon!

Bird species seen on today's tour include: northern gannet, northern fulmar, kittiwake, lesser black-backed gull, herring gull, greater black backed gull, common guillemot, atlantic puffin, arctic tern, eider ducks.

Status tour 9am: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. The forecast predict wind 13m/s from the south. There will be movement on the boat.
