Report from Elding: the sun casted beautiful orange and pink colors over the bay so the mountains around us looked even more stunning than before. The wind picked up again while we were out on the bay and it felt much colder than on the last few midnight tours. After a long time searching on the bay we spotted a blow at a distance, although we patiently searched for the animal that made the blow we were not successful. It was not until on the way back that we found another animal, this was a minke whale. Unfortunately it was rather elusive and we never got good looks at it. As these were our only sightings on the tour we gave all of our passengers tickets to come again, hopefully they will have better luck in the future. On the way back to land we enjoyed live music played by Bjarni Töframaður.

Report from Eldey: The weather had cleared up a lot, the wind was almost gone and the sun was out the whole time. Very nice condition to go whale watching. It took us some time before we found our first sighting. But than we found a minke whale, he showed up a few time right in front of the boat. Then an other one popped up, so nice. After they had left us we started to head home. It was a nice ride home.

Report from Hafsúlan: Basking in the sudden warmth that the afternoon brought, our trip out of the harbour was very pleasant. About an hour´s sail away from the harbour we encountered some other whale watching vessels nearby masses of feeding birds. Sure enough within twenty minutes we had our first sighting - a minke whale. While the animal was at first very elusive, it soon warmed up to our presence and appeared more freuquently, giving us some great views of its side and dorsal fin. It was almost like we were in a documentary at one point, surrounded by swarming birds and then having this minke pop up in the midst of all the action was fantastic!

Report from Eldey: The weather felt much more like summer compared to the morning. When we left the harbor after lunch, we had less wind and could even enjoy the sunshine. When we reached our main sighting grounds we saw many big flocks of feeding seabirds. Although we spend some time with different flocks, we always seemed to have just missed the whales. But thanks to our captain who decided to stay a little longer than originally planned, we got lucky at the very end of our tour: We found ourselves again close to a big flock of birds, when a minke whale surfaced less than 50 m in front of us. And only a few minutes later there was another individual coming up right behind us. So finally, our vessel was in the middle of all the action, surrounded by hundreds of seabirds and two whales which showed up here and there. A great finish of a nice sailing adventure here in Faxafloi.

Report from Hafsúlan: The wind definitely came as was in the weather report. But there was no rain, so actually not too bad! Still the numerous white-caps made spotting difficult and the boat definitely rocked from side to side a lot. We headed from the western side of the bay all the way to the eastern side. Here, we spotted a humpback whale that surfaced 4 times, but mostly just showing us it's big blow. Of course this is not the experience we want to offer our passengers so everyone was offered a complimentary ticket to come out with us another time in the next 2 years.

Report from Eldey: There was a lot of wind today but no rain and the sun was sometimes showing him self behind the clouds. It took a bit of time before spotting our first cetaceans. We got to see a blow but the animal didn't show and after waiting for a bit we decided to continue. After a bit of time we found 4-5 white beaked dolphins, but they where very elusive and difficult to spot. On the way back a got a lot of fresh icelandic air also we gave everybody a complimentary ticket so they can go again and have better luck with the weather and the cetaceans.

Bird species seen on today's tours include: northern gannet, northern fulmar, common guillemot, storm petrel, grey phalarope, atlantic puffin, arctic skua, great skua, arctic tern, eider duck, black-backed gull and black-legged kittiwake.
