✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE | at 20:30

Report from Elding: The sun was shining bright as it is normal for 9 pm... The passengers on board were delighted and ready for an adventure. Puffin enthusiast happily pointing out all the cute little birds on our way out of Reykjavik. We sailed out quite far and we sailed long until we reached an area with something of interest. Some of our passengers spotted a fin and so a beautiful interaction started. 7 white-beaked dolphins approached us and started to swim all around us. Actually, we first saw them leaping into the air a couple of times, what the of course stopped doing when we got closer to them, keeping this ritual to themselves. Nevertheless, it was great, they came to the bow of the boat and played in the waves that the boat created. We got a real nice look at them. The tour ended with a romantic view of the midnight sunand some chill tunes. What a night!

Report from Eldey: As we sailed out for our evening tour, clouds had pulled together once more and it felt like it had this morning. But winds had dropped to nearly nil and the sail was smooth. The visibility was so good that we spotted 2 minke whales with little effort. We did spend about 10 minutes with one of them, but as we had heard word of an area with many cetaceans, we wanted to aim there without loosing time, as wild animals can of course move away at any moment. Once we reached the area, we soon spotted the first 3 white-beaked dolphins that led us to the rest of their pod. There were at least 7 adults and one calf! Very fun to see how they were playing around our boat, bowriding, swimming from side to side and also giving us a great show when they started feeding less than 30 meters from the boat. We enjoyed their presence until they decided to take another direction, a decision we always respect to the fullest. On our way back to Reykjavík we sighted another pod of dolphins as well as 2 minke whales. Such an abundancy of live in the bay today.

Report from Elding: The weather was fairly representing Iceland as it was quite changeable along the tour, shifting between clear to grumpy skies. It was possible to feel the swell a bit but that did not hold our passengers from enjoying the ride seating on our outside deck, cosily wrapped in our overalls. Our travellers were so motivated that everybody was deeply engaged in the search for cetaceans! This could only promise good results, and it did not disappoint! Through the course of our tour it was possible to observe 5 or 6 minke whales and 4 or 5 white beaked dolphins. We were able to spend more than enough time with the animals, allowing everybody to take their pictures and record their videos. Another great tour with Elding!

Report from Eldey: Hello sunshine. What a nice change in weather. Winds calmed down even more and the clouds basically disappeared on this trip. Without sunscreen on, some of us probably even risked a sunburn. And with the sunshine came an incredible amount of minke whales just about 40 minutes out of the harbour. We first encountered 3 of them all moving into the north, towards Keflavik. Following their path, we found many small flocks of birds feeding, puffins flying eagerly and gannets performing their acrobatic dives. Cruising slowly through that area, we saw at least 10, if not more, minke whales, with some coming wonderfully close. We could even hear their strong blow when they exhaled. No one really wanted to turn around and return to the harbour from this tour.

Report from Elding: We had a bit of a choppy sea state on this tour, but nothing our enthusiastic passengers couldn't manage. Same goes for the no sun situation. We went out an hour and about 10 nm away from the harbour to get to a good, minke rich area. That's right, after we came to the said area, the minke whales were all around us. I think we saw some 5-7 individuals on this tour. The falcate dorsal fins were all over the place. After 15 minutes or so, they changed their appearance... now they were bigger and more elongated... 4 white-beaked dolphins popped up 25 m away from us, enabling for us to see the dolphin baby as well. All in all, a great time at the sea.

Report from Eldey: Winds calmed down a lot since yesterday and even the clouds stayed dry for us this morning. While we still had some under swell causing waves, it was pleasant to sail out. It was not until one and a half hours of sailing nearly almost only north that we spotted a minke whale. And then another. And another. And another. It was incredible how suddenly you can reach an area with a lot of bird and marine life. No guiding was needed to point out where whales were, as they were numerous, close by and we had birds showing us where they would appear again. Nature can be so wonderful.
