Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: It was a very chilly morning here in Reykjavík, so we put on our warm and cozy overalls and off we went in search of cetaceans! The wind was blowing a bit but nothing too bad as well as the waves were smaller than expected. Two blows were seen in the middle of a big flock of kittiwakes, they were from 2 humpback whales that were feeding separately. We got to see both of them go for many fluke dives. They also both came super close to the front of our boat at different stages. This was amazing. On the way back we spotted another blow of another whale but we didn´t have time to go there and check it out. We arrived in the harbour cold but very happy with this whale watching tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Another day another tour! We went out in search of some whales to show our passengers what the bay has to offer. It took us a while to find some activity when comparing with the morning tour but we eventually spotted a blow in the distance and went there to investigate. It was from a known animal, the superstar of the bay, a single humpback whale that was being shy at first but then it showed what we wanted more, a nice fluke dive with the sunset as a background. We stayed with this whale for about half an hour and before we said goodbye the gentle giant decided to give us something special and did a peduncle throw!! It did lots of splash! We saw it go down once more and then it was time to shelter inside because of the cold wind coming from the north on the way back to Reykjavík.
