CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey : We started to sail under really light rain and barely any swell. The sea was rather flat with barely any white foam on top pf the waves, easy to spot everything around. It took us only 15 minuites to encounter some harbour porpoises, there was about 4 of them going around the boat quite close. Really nice to start with. Just a few minutes later we spotted another species : white beaked dolphins, a few different pods with at least 20 individuals. We had some dolphins leaping, a few individual jumping and tail slapping, a few really interactive juveniles too. It was a really nice encounter. After a good amount of time with the dolphins we sailed outside to explore a bit more the area. No more species was seen on this tour, but mopre dolphins were encountered again by the harbour. It was all in all a really nice tour, with extremely interacting dolphins in a good sea.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We left the rain of in Reykjavik and had a nice sun for most of the tour. We went in similar areas than this morning hoping to find the same pod of dolphins but they were not there. From far away we spotted them closer to Akranes and moved around there but we could not find them there neither. We decided to get more in the southwest and started seeing a blow, then dorsal fins! There was an area with a humpback whale, a pod of 6-7 white-beaked dolphins, and 3 or 4 minke whales feeding. We first had a look at the humpback seeing the blow in the distance then the back of the animal coming up to breath and the the fluke dive a couple of times. It was Neila, one of our well known humpback that we have seen many ties this summer. There was too many boats so we decided to go away after seeing its tail going down a last time. We took the direction of birds that seemed active and found the minkes, sometimes lunge-feeding. We had the luck to see the pink underside of one of those active minkes eating at the surface. The when we were going to head back we found a pod of 6-8 white-beaked dolphins jumping and even tail slapping! Young dolphins seemed to be very playful. We watched them and came back to the harbour.
