Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Wow, one of the most frozen wonderland days we have experienced this winter with no wind the snow-capped mountains reflected of the ocean and many harbour seals and seabirds resting on the harder drifts of ice with covered a thin layer over most of the areas we searched. We travelled to the usual spots in search of Flak, a humpback whale we named recently but seen for over a month. No whale to be seen despite a very thorough search. Then we desired to search south towards the island of Akurey and towards the  lighthouse grótta. Lo and behold there he/she was, Flak the humpback whale 5 and half miles from our last encounter and surfacing very relaxed in the mirror calm waters. Surfacing 3 times, diving for 4-5 mins and up again 3 times. Flak looked to be milling and chilling and on occasion bringing up it’s fluke a few times for a deeper dive. The behaviour changed a bit with quicker surfacing and shorter dives. Just in case it was due to the increased amount of boats in the area we decided to leave and head back to port. What an incredible tour!
