Report from Eldey: The winds were still very strong for the tour this afternoon and the sea was rather rough, but we had sunshine for most of the tour. We also stayed close to shore and our excellent captain kept the boat steady throughout the tour. Still, we couldn't find any cetaceans during this tour, even though we put our best efforts into the search. Many of the passengers still enjoyed this exciting ride and we also got to see a few northern gannets doing plunge diving. Nevertheless, we did not see any cetaceans during this tour and so we offered complimentary tickets, so our passengers can give it one more try on another tour.

Report from Eldey: This morning we woke up with with strong south-west winds but nothing couldn't´t stop our appetite for a bit of whale watching before the weekend, plus it was sunny and warm! We sailed across Faxafloi for a while enjoying the fantastic views of Akrafjall and Esja with the deep fjord of Hvalfjörður, we were so amazed about the views that we had almost forgotten our main goal: spot some cetaceans. After a while following some northern gannets trying to find a productive area, everything started to happen. First, a solitary minke whale popped up just few meters in front of us and when we were waiting for this individual to resurface, 2 white-beaked dolphins popped out of nowhere. We decided to follow the dolphins and it was the best decision that we could have taken because a pod of 4-6 of them was waiting for to give us a spectacular show as they were jumping in synchrony, surfacing very close to our boat and bow-riding, it was incredible! When we decided to return, another minke whale surfaced few times before disappearing. The way back was face-cleaning as we faced the wind but overall was a minor thing compare with the morning that we enjoyed.

Birds seen during our tours: eider duck, northern fulmar, black-headed gull, great black-backed gull, lesser black-backed gull, herring gull, glaucous gull, northern gannet, great cormorant, black-legged kittiwake.
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. The wind today is quite strong so the seas are rough today. It is suppose to calm down a bit in the afternoon.
