 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  19:00

Report from Elding: Our tour started as a viking expedition, the wind was blowing and our trip it was a bit bumpy but it does not matter if you had brave passengers willing to find this huge animals. We headed towards Akranes, the wait was not long when we spotted differents blows in the distance and we started our sighting. We had in total 6 minke whales so we were all the time pointing the animals. At the area the incredible show of the northern gannet just started, reaching speeds of 100km/h hitting the water to catch the fish. Really nice safari with a beautiful midnight sun saying goodbye to us.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  17:00

Report from Eldey: Another tour with a bright sun. Such a pleasure. We started our sailing with a great view of the mountains that belong to the magical Snæfellsnes Peninsula. After roughly an hour, a minke whale appeared in front of our eyes, becaming the first sighting of the tour. This minke whale was a little bit shy but we had another minke feeding in the same area. They were performing really long dives so we had to be patient to be able to take some pictures of those two. After a long time waiting for these two individuals to surface again, and after seeing that it was taking a bit longer than usual, we decided to continue our heading to try to find something else. We didn't have to wait long. Another 2 minke whales offered us a nice view of their blows on the right side of the boat. We were really lucky because, once we got to the area, they decided to surface again and again. Our patience was finally rewarded.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  14:00

Report from Elding:The wind had picked up a bit since the morning tour, but we went out to the same area as before in hopes of finding the animals again. And we ended up finding a basking shark, feeding at the surface. But it went underwater after a short time so we couldn’t find it again. While we were still searching for the shark, a minke whale popped up! We saw it surface a few times before it went down for a deeper dive and we lost track of it. Ofcourse it was awesome seeing these animals, but because it was for such a short period of time and we didn’t see them all too well, we decided to give our passengers complimentary tickets to come back for free.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  13:00

Report from Eldey: The sun was shining strongly, not warming us up so much though. It was quite a chilly afternoon but we were happy to enjoy the amazing landscape we had all around the boat. After a while sailing, an small blow appeared in the distance. A really fast minke whale surfaced really close to the boat and dissapeared for the goods. The whole area was full of birds feeding so we had the feeling that something was going to happen. We continued our sailing and there it was, 2 beautiful basking sharks feeding in the area. The second biggest fish in the world, right after the whale shark. It was an amazing sighting! One of them jumped once out of  the water. A truly rare encounter! Also, another 2 minke whales made us a visit during the trip. It was a tour to remember!

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  10:00

Report from Elding: Boreas, the god of the Northern winds, was not in a forgiving mood this morning. Our ride was a bit bumpy, but that did not discouraged our passengers from remaining excited in our outside deck, as proper sailors’ man. Not long after we left the harbour we reached an area with promising bird activity, indicating the presence of prey common to our whales and dolphins. Our hunch held to our expectation as shortly after we sighted not 1, but 2 Minke whales foraging quite close to our vessel!  But the highest pick of the tour was yet to happen… Closer to the end of the trip we had a rare sighting – a basking shark! Even the crew was over thrilled with this encounter as these lovely giants are seldom seen! They tend to travel close to the surface as they are filter feeding on plankton. They are the second biggest known fish, making it one of the species that one definitely wants to cross from the check list! It was a lucky day for everyone on board!

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  09:00

Report from Eldey: Today we had a beautiful sunny morning, with some wind coming from north west. This wind was not really strong but cold, so our overalls were used by most of the passengers. We went near to Akranes to look for the whales. We saw a lot of interesting birds, northern gannets that we saw plunge-diving, atlantic puffins flipping their wing near the surface and the northern fulmar floating in the air. It took time to found the whales but we saw at least 4-5 minke whales. Most of those animals were far from the boat but we managed to see 2 minke whales from really close, those beautiful creatures surfacing right next to the boat. We were going back when we crossed 2 basking sharks feeding in those rich waters. So pleasant to begin the day like this !
