Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: the wind had picked up more than we expected and it was rainy as we set out. We went out to the same areas as we had had the very good minke whale and the dolphins on the morning tour but sadly they were not to be seen. They may well have been there but the swell had grown considerably, which made spotting these delightful creatures not easy. Sadly this turned out to be a non-sighting tour, which saw us giving every passenger a complimentary return ticket, which they can use for any of our whale-watching trips within the next two years.- Baldur Thorvaldsson

Tour at 09:00Report from Hafsúlan: yesterday's storm that was the result of Hurricane Cristobal had gone down, resulting in an allright tour despite some swell. Suddenly we spotted the first and better one of our 2 minke whales on this tour. To our delight, and need as we had to be careful with the boat due to the swell, it was calm and we got some good views of it both towards the front of the boat and on the side. The last sight we caught of it was when it appeared a short distance behind the boat but when we had turned the boat around, it was gone and not seen again. We continued searching and came upon a pod of ~10 white-beaked dolphins but they were hard to spot at first due to the swell. Even so, towards the end we got some truly excellent views of them when they swam towards us full speed and did some playing right in front of us. Then it was time to head home but before we had a brief sighting from a distance of our second minke whale. - Baldur Thorvaldsson

Birds seen on today's tours include: Lesser black-backed gulls, fulmars, common guillemots, northern gannets, turnstone, and manx shearwaters.
