Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The weather was still unfortunately quite miserable and the visibility got worse but that didn´t hinder the excitement of being out on the Icelandic seas in search for leviathans. White-beaked dolphin were the highlights of today´s tour and the minke whales were party poopers as they didn´t want to show themselves. We encountered 2 pods of white-beaked dolphins, about 7-10 in the first pod and 5-7 in the second. Both were busy feeding but also took the time to come and bow ride and play under the boat of the waves, keeping a respectful speed. Another highlight of the tour was the sooty shearwaters, a flock of about 20 and a few others scattered flying around. We don´t often see the sooty shearwater so it´s always great when we do. Everyone had a smile on their face by the end.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: It was quite miserable this morning with the overcast skies and light but drenching rain. The wind was also reaching 12-15m/s from the south east. Is quite comfortable on the journey out offshore and the food seems to be far out at the moment as it took us about 50 minutes before we saw our first pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins and these were elusive and very difficult to follow and keep track of. It was later on that we found a better pod of 3 white-beaked dolphins that were fantastic, playing under and around the boat and we could follow and watch them for a long time before we had to head home. A chilly but fun morning in Faxafloi Bay.
