Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan and Elding: Today we sailed from Hafnarfjörður, using the Reykjanes peninsula as cover from the south-westerly winds. That strategy worked quite well and we were only met with minor swells on our way out. It was a calm start to the tour with us sailing west towards Keflavík and then turning north with the wind at our backs. Once heading north we spotted a blow up ahead and moved to investigate. It was a tense few minutes but quite soon a humpback whale was spotted! This individual was quite small but very calm, swimming close to the boat and showing its fluke exceptionally well!. We observed this individual for a while and then headed further north but hadn't gotten very far when we spotted a pod of about 5-7 white-beaked dolphins.  These dolphins were in no hurry and swam almost lazily past our boat a few times. We got to see them just underneath the surface swimming along and then surfacing very close to us. On the way back there was also a pod of 4-5 harbor porpoises that we were quite lucky to get to look at. A three species tour and we headed back to Reykjavik in good spirits with the wind at our back.
