Tour status: RUNNING

Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: The weather improved significantly from the this morning. We had lesser waves, no rain and the sun was blessing us with it's rays for the most part. We sailed all the way to the middle of the bay and were about 14 nm away from Reykjavik at the furthest point. We couldn't spot anything during this track, so we turned south, towards Reykjanes peninsula. No luck either. Finally, we had to turn back towards the capital and were hoping that we will see something along the way back. We were just out of luck this time. The weather was beautiful, but the animals just didn't make an appearance. To make our guests feel better, we distributed complementary tickets to everyone on the ship for them to come sail with us again and try their luck some other time.

Report from Eldey: The tour started sunny and there was very little rain, as we were heading out today. Our search took a little bit longer, but finally we got lucky. We came across 4 pods of white-beaked dolphins, in total about 15-17 individuals. The animals were very approachable, coming close to the boat, jumping and slamming back into the water. It was a great show and another great encounter with these amazing cetaceans. On the way back to the harbour we had to face the winds, but could also enjoy the sunshine.

Bird species seen on todays tours: lesser black-backed gull, black-legged kittiwake, northern fulmar, northern gannet, cormorant, eider duck, common guillemot

We will be sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. Sea conditions are favorable but there could always be some movement out on the bay today, and we do have sea sickness tablets for free at the ticket office and at the boats.
