Report from Eldey: Well, as we just wrote in our previous diary, things can change rapidly when you work with nature. The snow had seized and clouds were breaking apart here and there, so we could enjoy some sunshine and an even better visibility. We had not gotten to our typical sighting areas when out of nowhere, within only 20 meters of our boat, a minke whale surfaced. Our first sightings of it were nice and close, 100 m to 300 m away. Soon however, it seemed to begin foraging so it was moving great distances at a fast pace and in random directions. As it became increasingly hard to follow it, we left the whale after half an hour to search for something else. Our boat was rocking a bit more now as the swell was picking up and this made it a real boat experience. Turning towards Reykjavik, waves were pushing us and so the ride became very smooth and scenic. Despite having had a beautiful sail with landscape views and even a minke whale, we just felt like we wanted to make our passengers happy by offering them a return trip using a complimentary ticket. The minke encounter was great but just was very tricky towards the end and thus just not as long lasting as we wish. Hopefully our passengers will return and until then still be happy with their minke whale encounter.

Report from Eldey: Well, a warmer day finally, yet still grey and with some snowfall throughout the tour. But sea conditions were fabulous, super flat, no white caps and good visibility. After around an hours time of sailing, more and more birdlife was actively flying around and we were sure that with such bird activity, also whales or dolphins would be in the area. To our and everyone's dissappointent though, we remained without sightings except for 2 harbour poropises showing briefly. With nature we know things can turn around within just a very short time so we really hope all our passengers will give it a second chance. For that they were provided complimentary tickets to join us again in Reykjavik or Akureyri inthe next two years.
