    CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We started the tour with a partly sunny day but decently warm temperature. As we headed out some of us got to spot some harbor porpoises close to the boat but, as most of the times, these animals were behaving very elusively and they run away quite quickly. As the tour went on we got to spot a blow in the distance and when we got closer we realized it was a humpback whale!! We spent some time with it but it was acting also a bit shy so we decided to head on. Suddenly, we found more blows in the distance and when we got closer we realized there were three humpbacks in the area! They were surfacing constantly so it was quite easy for all the passengers to take a good look at it. Also, we were able to see one of the already known individuals! Davy Jones II was also around! After some time with the animals we decided to head back to Reykjavik. We saw around 6 harbor porpoises and 5 humpback whales.

    CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 1300

Report from Eldey: We started our second tour of the day with more wind than the previous tour and a bit of sun in our faces. Soon, after we left the harbour, we could see some splashes in the distance in what it would be our first sighting of the day! It was 4 to 6 harbour porpoises and among these cetaceans was another one hidden, a minke whale which caught us by surprise! But, after 10 minutes we decided to head a bit further out, because we had spotted some blows in the distance. Half an hour of sailing later and we encountered our beloved humpback whales feeding in a group of 3. We saw some tail slaps and of course, beautiful fluke dives. We could recognize one of them, named Davy Jones II, while photographing them! Then the wind started to pick up even more to a point where we couldn´t see the whale´s blows. Because of that and the shortage on time we started to head back towards the Reykjavík harbour. A nice day with some surprises!
