Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Because of the winds we experienced on the morning tour we were expecting some swells but the sun really warmed everybody up on the way out. We had an amazing morning tour so we were excited to get out again. We headed straight out to the area where we encountered the humpbacks before and when we arrived we started to see big blows. We knew then that the humpback whales were still there. We encountered at least four humpbacks and a big flock of birds feeding. This was obviously a good area, full of nutrients for the animals. The animals were pretty calm compared to our morning tour but we still had the chance to see one really close to us so everyone on board had a good look. After a while we decided to leave the humpbacks and search for something else. Unfortunately we weren't able to find more animals but the sailing home was really smooth and the weather was fantastic. We had a great time today with these amazing animals.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: A blustery start to today's tour, strong 10-14 m/s chilly winds from the north. Northerlies are not a bad wind for us as we can use the mountains of Esja and Akrafjall to gain a bit of shelter. A little rougher sea as we past Hvalfjörður. We stayed pretty close to the coast all the way to the town of Akranes. Just off the coast of this town a blow was seen, then another and another, humpback whales! At least 3 inidviduals just meters of the coast and feeding under flocks of seabirds, fulmars, kittiwakes, gannets, gulls and even huge flocks of eider ducks were present but not feeding. The humpback whales were incredible, one breached fully out of the water but most passengers were watching others on the other side, just a few spotted it. The other humpback whales were also lunging, rolling and head slapping. It was amazing. The sail home was more comfortable, sailing with the swell and towards the warm sun.
