Tour Status: RUNNING

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The interesting spring snow continued to fall as we sail out for the second time this day. The snow storm at the beginning of our tour made it quite hard to spot anything that wasn't very close to the boat. After about half an hour the snow stopped to fall and the visibility increased drastically. After returning to the place where we were lucky in the morning, we saw 2-3 harbour porpoises passing just a few meters from the boat. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful in finding bigger cetacean species on the afternoon tour and that is why we decided to give our passengers complimentary tickets to use them for one more whale watching tour.

Report from Eldey: Merry Christmas to everybody! The first thing that we did this morning was  a snowman because the snowfall that we have suffered during the whole day has been pretty intense, feeling like December. Nonetheless, the sailing experience was great, with calm seas and tons of seabirds around. Those birds gave us good indications about where to look at to find cetaceans. The first species that we spotted was harbour porpoises, a total of 4 pods at different moments during the tour with 15-20 individuals encountered during the tour. But that wasn't all, a minke whale surfaced several times very close to the boat, giving us nice moments at the sea.

Bird species seen on today's tours include: eider duck, eurasian oystercatcher, great cormorant, northern fulmar, great black-backed gull, lesser black-backed gull, herring gull, black-legged kittiwake, northern gannet, black guillemot.

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. Sea conditions could be a bit choppy so if you're sensitive to sea sickness, we do have complimentary sea sickness tablets at the ticket office and on the boat. All our boats have inside and outside areas and to make the tour even more comfortable we provide warm overalls. Hope you will be able to join us today!
