Tour at 13:00

Report from Elding: This afternoon we started our tour in Grindavík because of the adverse sea conditions in Faxaflói Bay. When the wind is coming strongly from the north the sea is usually calmer on the south part of the Reykjanes peninsula where Grindavík is located. We sailed east, so the whole way we could enjoy the beautiful landscape of the peninsula with high cliffs! Unfortunately though, we did not manage to find any cetaceans and therefore offered our passengers complimentary tickets. Hopefully they will be able to come along for another whale watching tour with us sometime within two years.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúla: It rained down from the thick cloud cover above us nearly the whole tour. We came to the area where we have been getting the best sightings for the last few days, after a little looking around we spotted a dolphin in about 600 meters distance. We sailed towards it and saw it belonged to a group of 4 white-beaked dolphins! One of them came right next to the boat but the other onse kept more than 100 meters distance but still we got good look at these beautiful animals. After spending some time with these dolphins captain Jón spotted a species that he enjoys a lot, harbour porpoises! On the way back we were lucky enough to see 3 white beaked dolphins travel fast in the opposite direction.
