Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: today it was a northern wind which forced us to go one particular route in order to have as comfortable tour as possible. We sailed towards Akranes, looked at Mount Akrafjall and Mount Esja and into the mouth of Hvalfjörður whilst we scanned the surface of the water looking for signs of cetaceans. It was good for sighting that there were not so many white tops on the water but the splashes as the waves broke on land were considerable. There was a bit of birdlife on the water today, at least three types of seagulls in addition to northern fulmars and also the black-legged kittiwakes seemed to show us a lot of interest, almost as much interest as the fulmars showed in following the fishing boats we saw, and the european shaqs were also well and truly present, however no cetaceans were seen. All passengers were provided with complimentary return tickets so that they can come again whale-watching free of charge within the next two years.

- Baldur Thorvaldsson

Birds seen on today's tour include: black-backed gulls, iceland gulls, glaucus gulls, eider ducks, european shags, northern gannet, common guillemot, razorbill, northern fulmar.
