Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00 and 14:00 Premium Whale tours and on our lovely vessel Elding for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Elding: Winter seemed to be back in the bay but this didn't stop us sailing across to spot some wildlife. Despite the chilly temperature, the sea conditions were very nice, no waves and a light wind. We immediately saw few couples of puffins outside the harbor and some of them very close to the boat. Such a nice start! We spotted 1 minke whale very fast, and kinda shy but everybody had a chance to see it in front of the boat. After a while, we spotted 2 humpback whales very far and when we were heading towards them we met another humpback whale closer. This individual - known as Davy Jones II - made us company for quite long, coming to the bow showing us its huge body and flippers. It was so magic and unique! The whale was super relaxed and felt comfortable to be with us. Everybody was excited and had so much fun! To add something more, we ended the tour admiring another couple of humpbacks traveling together, showing us few fluke dives. Amazing!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Elding: What an amazing afternoon we had! We went far out at sea but it didn't take us long until we had our first encounter: a humpback whale in the distance, fluking up when performing deep dives. As it was taking about 8min underwater and other boats decided to join us, we continued our journey. Then we saw another humpback, that was also taking deep dives. As we waited for this one to come up, we saw two big splashes in the distance: 2 other humpbacks were breaching close to each other! When we got closer to it, one of them stopped breaching and started to wave its long pectoral fin, repeatedly. Such an amazing encounter! This one also decided to take a break and logged at the surface for a while. That's when we decided to explore another area, since while checking this one out, we saw at least 3 other blows in the distance. We saw another humpback performing deep dives and we decided that it was time to go home. On the way back we saw the glimpse of a minke whale not too far from the boat. We headed back to Reykjavík pretty much satisfied with this sunny and active day!
