Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: this was a good tour despite the strong south-southwestern wind. Nothing happened for a while until my co-guide Sigurlaug suddenly spotted some dorsal fins very close as she was standing at the rear of the boat. First we saw one, then two, then three, until a pod of 5-6 white-beaked dolphins was evident. We were not able to move the boat as openly as we wanted due to the wind but fortunately the dolphins were reasonably easy to follow. Even if they did vanish out of sight from time to time, no doubt because they were going for the fish that the fishfinder showed us was present 10-20 meters down, we did get some good looks at them and on and off they would come very close. Once they had decided they had had enough and disappeared, we continued searching. We did see two large flocks of birds though, one mostly northern gannet and another one mostly fulmar, but they had no larger co-diners.

Birds seen on today's tour include: black-backed gulls, glaucous gulls, iceland gulls, eider ducks, common guillemots, fulmars, northern gannets and kittiwakes.
