✔ CLASSIC WHALE TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 09:00

Report from Eldey: The tour was a little challenging today as a strong southerly wind caused a swell over a metre in the bay. The wind persisted through the morning with intermittent rain showers. We tried our best to find wildlife and had a short encounter with a pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins came towards the boat and surfed between the swell and the wake for a few minutes but quickly became lost in the conditions. As the encounter was short, we decided to issue complimentary tickets.

✔ CLASSIC PUFFIN TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 10:00

✔ CLASSIC WHALE TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The weather had become a bit better from the morning – it had dried up, the sky had opened a little and the wind died down. However, these weather changes did not stretch over to the waves, who were still quite high and the sea was therefore a bit hard on passengers today. The crew, along with determined passengers, did their absolute best to find some cetaceans but unfortunately, we would not be rewarded for our hard efforts. No whales were spotted on the tour despite rich birdlife, that passengers managed to find a lot of joy in and asked loads of questions about. Because of the lack of whales, we gave the passengers complimentary tickets for another classic tour.

Report from Þruma RIB : The weather was getting better than today during this evening tour. The wind was calmed down and the swell was low. It was still very choppy but the captain managed to make the tour comfortable. We had a bit of rain in the area of Reykjavik but once on the bay it was dry. We started with a stop at Engey to see the puffins, with the high tide we could see them from very close. We went out and soon found 2 harbour porpoises, in this choppy see we could see them only a couple of time so we kept going. Many flocks of birds were present in an area so we slowed down and had a glimpse of a minke whale that quickly disappeared. A group of 4-6 white beaked dolphins found us and played around the boat, coming under the boat and on the sides, clearly friendly and playful. It was a lovely moment. When we started to go away they sticked with us for a while. We headed north until we saw a blow. It was a humpback whale that we could quickly identify. It was Davy Jones, probably the MVP of the 2021 whale watching season, coming once again veeery close of our boat, slightly splattering us with one of its blows. It was surfacing very often with very short dives and showed us a few times its fluke. Great tour !

✔ MIDNIGHT WHALE TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 20:30

Report from Eldey: We had a bit of a rough beginning of the tour with no sightings in about 1 and half hours but fortunately one of our passengers could spot a blow not very far from our vessel. It was 1 humpback whale, it seemed to be feeding and moving in different directions. Nothing out of the ordinary except for its size I´d say no bigger than 10 meters. Kind of shy behaviour from our perspective we let it swim by itself and went on for another one, reported by another vessel in the bay. After 20 minutes sailing further north we met this other humpback whale. This one offered a set of moves and looks at the boat that left people very curious about every next move. It did some rolling and deep dives around our boat and left for another area. as we were running out of time we had to head back home.
